Well that is exactly the cliffhanger from the last episode of the USA Network hit series but we are not talking about the show here.

We are talking about the plea deal that he struck with Miami prosecutors about his DUI case.

The 42-year-old Donovan got arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after almost slamming his Audi into a patrol car on his way home from hotel Fontainebleau last July 2009.

According to the police report, the officers noticed that Donovan had the smell of alcohol on his breath and that he had bloodshot eyes.

Donovan refused to take a breathalyzer and apparently told the officers that his only mistake was drinking Benadryl with three glasses of wine.

Well that mistake almost got him into a major car accident that could have hurt the police officers.

Fortunately for him, it did not end that way.

Instead, he was sentenced to six months probation and will have to cough up more than $1,000 in fines.

Hopefully he learned his lesson and works towards educating people against drunken driving instead.

That’s what Michael Westen would do; well not really because he is a spy and all, but you get the message.

9-Year-Old Killed in Single Fatal Car Accident in Temecula

We found this heartbreaking story at PE.com.

A fatal single car accident in Temecula claimed the life of a 9-year-old girl and seriously injured her 17-year-old step brother.

The tragedy is that the likely cause of the accident is that their mother was probably under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol when the crash happened.

According to reports, Karen Faye Honeycutt, 41, just picked up her two children Chloe, 9, and Zachery, 8, from Pauba Elementary with her step son Charles Williams Jr., 17.

They were on their way to Great Oaks High where another of her children was studying when Honeycutt lost control of her Jeep Grand Cherokee on Vail Ranch Parkway.

The Jeep proceeded to crash into a concrete light and then slammed into a tree.

Chloe and Charles, who may not have been wearing seatbelts, were thrown out of the vehicle.

Lorraine Yelton of Temecula, who was driving with her daughters, saw the crash and stopped at the scene.

Another person helped Honeycutt while she focused her attention on Chloe, who sustained very serious injuries due to the crash.

As Lorraine felt that Chloe was slipping away she comforted the child by singing to her and prayed for her.

Chloe died in her arms in peace.

That is when their brother from Great Oaks High arrived from school recognizing the crash and witnessing the tragedy that befell his family.

He asked Lorraine why her sister is not talking and deep inside he may already know the answer.

Charles, meanwhile, sustained serious back injuries had to be transported to a nearby hospital with Zachary who sustained minor injuries.

Karen Honeycutt, on the other hand, sustained neck injuries and is being detained in a hospital ward after being charged with suspicion of drunken driving and murder.

She was allegedly moving in vey high speeds and when asked about what happened after the crash, she does not seem to remember.

This prompted authorities to get her tested to see if she was under the influence.

As of writing, there was no information about the test results yet.

Mike Adamle – the host of the original American Gladiators – has just been booked for drunken driving in Chicago yesterday morning.

According to TMZ, Adamle was aboard his 2002 BMW when he ran through a stop sign just outside the Chicago area.

Fortunately, he was stopped by police officers before he caused a car accident because he was apparently drunk.

He was then taken to Evanston Police station after failing a field sobriety test.

While at the station, Adamle apparently exhibited some erratic behaviors so he was brought to Evanston Hospital for a drug test.

The result of the test is till pending but he is already scheduled to appear in court on Valentines Day.

This is a big blow for the TV icon’s image but like any other celebrity; he will surely bounce back from this debacle.

All we could hope for is that he learns his lesson and be an advocate against drunk driving and not the suspect after this.

Adamle was also a freelance staffer at WMAQ where he also appeared on weekend newscasts and it’s “Sport’s Sunday” show.

Modesto Police Officer Sentenced after Pleading Guilty to DUI

We expect that authorities will be the first ones who will follow the law because it is their job to uphold and enforce it. If they failed to do so, they will also be punished for their wrong actions, just like ordinary citizens.

A male Modesto police officer has been sentenced to seven days in prison after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI. He admitted that he had a blood alcohol content of 0.20% while he was driving his Jeep Wrangler on Nov. 2.

In addition, he also pleaded no contest to driving with an open container in the vehicle.

Being drunk is likely the reason why he crashed his vehicle off Scenic Drive, down an embankment.

According to reports, the police officer was identified as Todd Joseph Parsons, 42. He was off-duty when the accident occurred.

It is fortunate that no one else was inside the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Parsons was sentenced to jail, but he can avoid being behind bars by participating in a work release program.

Over 500 People Arrested During Winter Holiday Anti-DUI Crackdown in O.C.

Holidays are often celebrated with alcoholic beverages so it is not unusual to see drunken drivers and individuals during these times.

In an effort to stop DUI-related accidents during the Christmas and New Year season, authorities have implemented the Winter Holiday Anti-DUI crackdown which lasted for two weeks.

The crackdown, which resulted in 504 arrests, ended at the start of 2011. It included at least 38 special deployments in the area and also involved the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol (CHP), and police agencies.

These hundreds of people were arrested on suspicion of DUI from December 17 until December 31, said the Sheriff’s Department.

Drunken Driver Hits Water Main, Floods Restaurant

Negligent driving has numerous possible catastrophic results.

Alcohol and even prescription drugs can alter one’s judgment and driving skills. So, after drinking, it is always safe and responsible not to drive or just have a sober person to drive you around.

A recent vehicle accident in Lincoln believed to be caused by a drunk driver has resulted to property damages and nuisance to customers of a restaurant nearby. Thankfully, no one was reportedly injured in the accident though the drunk driver will still be held liable for his actions.

According to reports, 44-year-old Manuel Pereira was driving the sports utility vehicle that rolled over at G and First Street before it broke a water main which flooded a Mexican restaurant nearby.

Responders found Pereira conscious and outside the vehicle. He was taken to Sutter Roseville medical Center where he was treated for the minor injuries he sustained in the accident.

Pereira was later booked into Placer County Jail.

A lot of fatal accidents have been reported to be caused by a drunk driver. By now, motorists should be aware of the dangers of drunk driving but some of them still neglect its seriousness.

Small preventive measures will certainly go a long way as these road accidents caused by negligence can inflict serious, and even fatal, injuries to the driver himself.

We hope everybody will practice responsible driving during the approaching holidays. Stay safe!

Fresno Man Arrested for Selling Alcohol to Minor Killed in 2009 DUI Car Crash

For all intents and purposes, I think we all know that selling alcohol to kids below 21 is illegal.

Most liquor stores follow the rule, the others… not so much.

The question is, is it worth it?

Well, that is probably what Paramjit Singh of Fresno is thinking about right now after he was arrested following a series of investigations that discovered he allegedly sold alcohol to 18-year-old Jose Antonio Barriga last November 29, 2009 while working at “Uncle Tom’s Liquor Store.”

Later that night, Barriga also went behind the wheel and consequently crashed into a parked vehicle and a telephone pole.

Barriga and 2 of his passengers, a 16-year-old male and a 13-year-old female, were killed in the fatal car accident.

An investigation was immediately conducted by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC)and their findings led them to Singh who was arrested last Monday for selling alcohol to minors.

Uncle Tom’s Liquor also faces license revocation after ABC filed administrative actions against them.

Yes, Singh is only arrested with a misdemeanor charge and yes, Uncle Tom will get a license to open again even if it will be closed for some time.

But still, the thought that one simple action can lead to a chain of events that ends up in a tragedy will forever haunt them.

I hope this becomes a lesson to us all.

Our actions can have further reach than we might expect.

Suspected Drunken Driver Crashes into Wall, Injures Herself and Passenger

Drunk driving is one of the leading causes of vehicle accidents today because it prevents a driver from thinking clearly and also impairs his or her ability to operate the vehicle properly.

In fact, a 28-year-old female driver who is suspected to be under the influence of alcohol hit a concrete wall in Ventura County, thus causing serious injuries to herself as well as her 23-year-old passenger.

According to reports, Suzann Bridges, from Encino, was moving north on Vineyard Avenue in Saticoy when she suddenly went through an intersection along Highway 118 and smashed into the wall.

The driver and her passenger who was identified as Josephine Razo, from Camarillo, needed to be extricated from the vehicle. They were then rushed to Ventura County Medical Center to receive immediate medical treatment.

Authorities said both of them suffered from internal injuries. It is fortunate that these injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.

The driver was then arrested on suspicion of DUI. It turned out that she is supposed to be arraigned the following week on a misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended license. What is more surprising to know is that her license was earlier suspended due to DUI.

Suspected Drunk Driver Injures Two CHP officers

Two CHP officers were injured after a suspected drunken driver slammed his vehicle into their parked patrol car

Some drunk drivers try to elude authorities by maintaining a low key as they try to avoid accidents while driving. However, there are unfortunate ones who get into accidents with the very people they should be wary about: the highway patrol officers.

Two California Highway Patrol officers were injured after a suspected drunk driver rammed into their parked patrol car near Santa Fe Springs recently.

Officers Raliegh Quinones and Jeremy Tolen were said to be seated inside the patrol car after parking behind a disabled SUV on the shoulder of Interstate 605 at around 11:20 pm when they were hit by the intoxicated driver.

Lazaro Ramirez was going about 65 mph on his pickup when he rear-ended the patrol car pushing it into the unoccupied SUV in front of it. The impact sent the patrol car back to traffic where it was hit by another motorist.

The two officers and Ramirez luckily sustained only minor injuries while the other motorist was not injured in the accident. Ramirez was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving.

This unfortunate accident highlights the dangers that CHP officers face each time they get in their patrol cars. They are lucky that they only sustained minor injuries as this accident could have been a lot worse especially had Ramirez was speeding.

Also, it shows that even parked vehicles on the shoulder of the road are not safe as reckless, and possibly intoxicated, drivers can easily hit them.

We hope for the officers’ fast recovery from their injuries!

According to reports, the driver Joshua Hicks, 27, from Rohnert Park, tried to flee after hitting the SUV.

Fortunately, Sgt. Dave Welch was not seriously injured in the crash. He was able to pin the driver’s vehicle against the curb.

Hicks refused to cooperate with the authorities so he was forcibly removed from the vehicle. His Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) at that time is 0.16, said reports.

Welch received medical treatment for back, shoulder, and right arm pain at the scene.
