Senator Roy Ashburn (R-CA) has just been arrested for suspicion of DUI near the state capitol.
According to CHP, Senator Ashburn was spotted driving erratically at about 2:00am and was stopped by an officer.
He was arrested after being given a field sobriety test and was taken to Sacramento County Jail where he was given a BAC test.
After the test, he was booked and released.
CHP has also put the hush-hush on the result of Senator Ashburn’s BAC test.
You just have to wonder, will he plead no-contest or will they spin this so that he wouldn’t get a conviction?
And if he is convicted, what types of penalties will be given to him?
I am pretty sure that the punishment will be like a slap in the wrist.
Aside from being a senator, this is also only his first DUI (am I right?).
If convicted, I would expect the senator to get a fine, some very light community work, and about 3 years probation.
Oh and the token alcohol education classes.
