An OC man will be facing one count each of gross vehicle manslaughter while intoxicated and suspicion of DUI that led to injury after causing a car accident that killed an Ontario woman on the 10 Freeway last December.

Superior Court Judge Steven Sandora ordered 44-year-old Thomas Vanauken to be arraigned on May 20 at the Pomona courthouse.

Vanauken was arrested last December 20 when he rear ended Edelmina Guardado’s car at about 2:45 am while she was slowing down due to construction work.

Guardado sustained serious head trauma that caused her death and one of her passengers suffered lacerations.

This should serve as a lesson to all of us.

We know that it has been said a million times but we are going to say it again “DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE.”

If you do not value your life, then value others.

Remember that when you drive under the influence, you do not only put your life in danger, but the lives of those around you as well.
