According to the LA County Coroner’s Office, 2-year-old Lucas Anthony Tang died due to multiple traumatic injuries sustained after falling 50 feet from a suite.
According to authorities, the accident happened at about9:15 pm as Lucas, his parents and other people on the group were taking pictures.
Lucas was then transported to County-USC Medical Center where he was declared dead a few hours later.
Coroner’s officials have ruled that the fall was indeed an accident and foul play is not suspected.
Still, the LAPD’s Juvenile division is still investigating the circumstances that led to the tragic accident.
The Lakers and the management at Staples Center have released a statement that expresses their condolences to Lucas’ family.
According to the statement, “The Lakers organization would like to express our shock and sadness at the death of Lucas Anthony Tang,”
They added “To go from a moment of happiness and enjoyment to the loss of this boy’s life is tragic and heartbreaking. We would like to ask Lakers fans to join us in keeping Lucas and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
We here at Injury in the City would like to express our deepest condolences to the Tang family as well.
