McDonalds recently announced the product recall of about 12 million of the “Shrek Forever After 3D” drinking glasses after they found that the paint used had traces of Cadmium.

Cadmium is a known carcinogen and is considered very toxic.

The Shrek Glasses, which are being sold on McDonalds branches nationwide for $2 to promote the latest Shrek installment, was manufactured by ARC International in Millville, New Jersey.

According to reports, the hazard was found by the office of Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) through an anonymous tip.

She then alerted the Consumer Product Safety Commission who then expedited the testing of the said drinking glasses.

McDonalds, at the encouragement of the CPSC, agreed to voluntary recall the Shrek drinking glasses: both sold and on stock.

Again, all consumers are advised to return the glasses for a full refund.

McDonalds is also planning to dedicate a web page for the product recall, but while it’s not yet up, you can call their toll free numbers at (800) 244-6227 Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm CT.
