Just a few weeks after news about Russell Brands’ alleged pedestrian accident broke, here comes another minor pedestrian accident for the famous English comedian.

Recent news reports and videos surfaced yesterday showing Brand picking up the belongings of a homeless man from the streets while his SUV is horizontally blocking the opposite lane of the roadway.

Apparently, Brand was trying to make a left turn on his Range Rover at around 9 o’clock in the morning in Hollywood when she smashed into a homeless man’s cart filled with recyclables and other stuff.

Several actual photos and video footage of him rushing to pick up the homeless man’s things were caught and posted online. Fortunately, nobody was hurt from the incident.

After cleaning up the mess, Brand quickly ran back to his car while the homeless man went back on his way. Probably, Brand wished that nobody caught him in action. However, many did see him and even filmed him as well.

Incidentally, this is not the first time that Brand had a remarkable experience with a homeless man. It can be recalled that just last September, Brand treated a bunch of homeless men to breakfast. There was also one time when he let a homeless man use his bath.

In addition, if the said incident can be referred to as a pedestrian accident, it may not be the first time for Brand since it was only last month when a pedestrian claimed that the actor/comedian drove into him last January in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, a Los Angeles vehicle accident lawyer claims that a court resolution regarding Brand’s alleged pedestrian accident has not yet started the litigation phase. Therefore, he said, it is not justifiable to come up with a conclusion at this point in time.

Hemet High School Pedestrian Accident Injures 10 People, Including Students

At least ten people, including students, were involved in a pedestrian accident caused by a truck that ran on red light.

According to reports, the accident happened at around 2:44 in the afternoon after the students were dismissed from their class in Hemet High School in Hemet, California.

Witnesses said that more than 30 students crossing at a pedestrian lane in 41701 Stetson Avenue bound for a parking lot were struck by a red light-beating pick-up truck. Several students and other pedestrians were plowed by the truck.

At least five students were transported to Riverside Medical Center and an adult was rushed o another nearby hospital. Meanwhile, two people refused to accept medical treatment, and one of which is the driver of the truck himself. At least three people sustained serious injuries while five sustained minor injuries, according to the rescuers.

The driver of the Ford Ranger that struck the pedestrians was identified as Daniel Carillo, 18, and a junior student in the said high school. Witnesses further stated that Carillo immediately stopped after hitting the pedestrians.

At present, authorities are still determining the major cause of the accident since alcohol and drugs were not found to be a factor to the incident.

Nevertheless, although the investigation regarding the said pedestrian accident is still underway, police have impounded Carillo’s car to be inspected for possible mechanical failure.  Therefore, it is not yet certain whether Carillo will be charged or given citation.

Apparently, authorities are considering mechanical failure as the major cause of the incident. And so, if the investigation confirmed the authorities’ speculations as true and correct, Carillo might be spared from any charges like personal injury claim, since the car’s manufacturer could be the one to be held liable for all the damages and injuries incurred by the accident.

According to a Los Angeles accident attorney, a product liability claim can also be more likely to figure in this incident.

Drowsy Driver Hits Pedestrians in San Bernardino

Pedestrian lanes are designated areas on the road for walker, jogger, bikers and roller skateboarders. The lanes also serve as separators between vehicles and pedestrians. With this, vehicle and pedestrian accidents are then assumed to be prevented since pedestrian lanes are provided.

People usually feel comfortable when walking on a pedestrian lane being rest assured that they are safe since the lanes are specially designed for their safety. However, I doubt if you would still feel safe after reading a story of these three pedestrian passersby.

Two pedestrians walking on the marked crosswalk at the Miliken Avenue just near the Pacific Electric bike trail in Rancho Cucamonga last November 26 were struck by a car. According to reports, the driver was sleepy and didn’t notice the two cyclists and a jogger in the crosswalk, causing the accident.

The jogger suffered multiple fractures while the female cyclist sustained serious physical injuries. She was immediately brought to the hospital and undergone surgery. Her husband, being the third person struck did not sustain any injury.

Under the California Vehicle Code Section 21950, vehicle drivers shall provide a right of way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within either marked or unmarked crosswalk at an intersection.

Obviously, the car driver will be held liable for a pedestrian accident once proven that his or her car stepped on the pedestrian lane However, victims of the accident may file for their personal injury claim only until 180 days from the date of the accident according to the California Government Code Section 911.2.

The woman can file a claim against the irresponsible driver for the hope of a fast recovery.

Actress Reese Witherspoon Wears Black Eye after LA Car Crash

The Legally Blonde star Reese Witherspoon was spotted on Wednesday in Santa Monica, wearing a black eye on her lovely face. The formerly flawless celeb ramped on the streets days after her pedestrian accident in Los Angeles.

According to reports, Witherspoon has headed to a friend’s party in Los Angeles showing a black eye and bandaged forehead. The Walk the Line icon was seen unloading gifts from her car’s trunk days after a car hit her in Los Angeles.

Witherspoon was jogging in Los Angeles when an 84-year-old driver struck her. The actress was knocked on the floor and sustained minor face injuries. She was treated at a local hospital and was released the same day. She was recuperating from her injuries at home, reports said.

Reports said the award-winning actress is not pursuing a personal injury lawsuit against the elderly driver. Witherspoon’s representative also affirmed that the upcoming filming of This Means War and Mud will not be affected.

Sustaining minor injuries and not pressing any charges against the elderly driver has its consequences. Failure to file the lawsuit on time may nullify any future claims on the accident. In California, the statute of limitation for personal injury claims is up to two years.

If the injured person chooses not to file the accident suit, and the time limit already lapsed; the court will no longer accept a claim on the accident. The victim then forfeits his or her rights to receive compensation for medical expenses, emotional loss, or property loss. If the victim suddenly discovers a complication from the injury, he or she will have a hard time convincing the judges to reconsider the case.

Filing the lawsuit immediately after the accident is important and necessary. It allows the victim to gather key evidence at the accident scene, including witness statements.
The plaintiff’s lawyer will also find it easier to substantiate the case, using fresh testimonies from the witnesses as well as credible accident reconstruction. More over, the victim can gather up-to-date medical records to show proof of the injuries sustained.

Well, the blonde babe may no longer need the payment of the elderly driver as she is capable of financing her own medication; such a lucky 84-year-old motorist then.

However, if the elderly driver can get away with the accident; a lot of citizens may try their luck also in hitting Hollywood celebs on LA roads. Perhaps Witherspoon should think about preventing her accident case to become a precedent of liable-free crashes.

As for her fans, it is still better to assert a legally blonde attitude after a pedestrian accident in Los Angeles.

Elderly Pedestrian Dies when Hit by Car while Jaywalking

Crosswalks are created or designated so that pedestrians can safely cross the street without the fear of being hit by vehicles. If an accident happens because they are not using the crosswalk, the driver may not be held liable for it.

A 54-year-old woman reportedly died after being struck by a Honda Accord while jaywalking in Fresno.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Donna Patterson, from Fresno. Reports said the accident occurred near Saginaw Way, along Blackstone Avenue at around 11:10 a.m.

According to reports, the woman was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities issued no citations to the driver.

In this case, the driver may escape from any liability because the pedestrian failed to comply with traffic rules.

The driver was identified as Ronald Sonsowski, 60, from Coronado. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

My condolences to the victim’s loved ones.

Pedestrian Dies when Hit by SUV in Anaheim

Pedestrian are encouraged to use designated crosswalks to that they will not get hit by approaching vehicles. Because their body is unprotected, they might easily sustain serious or fatal injuries in the event of an accident.

A female pedestrian recently died when she was hit by a SUV while crossing outside a designated crosswalk at the La Palma Avenue, west of East Street.

The woman was identified as 32-year-old Noemi Tejeda, from Anaheim. Reports said she was rushed to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she was announced dead.

Bay Area City Council Candidate Injured in Pedestrian Accident

Richmond Police are currently investigating if the pedestrian accident that injured a bay Area City Council Candidate was just plain old negligent driving or was it intentional and politically motivated.

The injured candidate was identified as Eduardo Martinez, who is a member of the Richmond Progressive Alliance slate.

According to Richmond Police, Martinez was monitoring a polling station in Richmond when a blue minivan struck him and knocked him on the ground.

The police are still looking for the driver who fled the accident scene.

Martinez was brought to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center where doctors, fortunately, reported that he did not sustain any serious injuries.

According to Richmond police, when caught, the driver may be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

If the incident was politically motivated, then it is a poor attempt at Martinez’s life.

I believe police will soon be able to identify and apprehend whoever hit the candidate and he should thank his lucky stars that Martinez was not seriously hurt, or worse, killed.

If Martinez was killed in his (or her) little stunt then he could be facing murder raps for his actions.

Hopefully, the police gets this guy so that he can start learning his lessons the hard way.

Elderly Dies when hit by Pickup in Porterville

Pedestrian accidents often result in serious or fatal injuries because a pedestrian’s fragile body can be easily damaged when hit by hard objects, specifically vehicles.

In fact, a 91-year-old man, from Porterville, recently died after he was hit by a pickup truck.

Reports said the elderly was walking northbound across Henderson Avenue in Porterville when he was suddenly struck by a Chevrolet pickup.

He was rushed to Sierra View District Hospital, where he was announced dead later on.

The unnamed pickup driver was reportedly a 46-year old woman, also from Porterville.

Pedestrian Hit

The man was said to be walking along a bike lane when, for unknown reasons, he turned and bolted to the street near Florida Drive.

A motorist driving a Lexus tried to avoid the man by swerving but was unable to steer clear and so the pedestrian ended up on the hood of the sedan before rolling off onto the road. The pedestrian was then run over by another vehicle.

The pedestrian died at the scene despite rescuers’ efforts to save him.

It is important that pedestrians never under estimate the possibility of being injured by approaching vehicles each time they cross the street. He should have made sure that motorists were aware of his presence before he crosses the street if there were no walkways in the area.
