Teen Struck by Train while Talking on Cell Phone

Cell phone use significantly increases the risk of an accident because it is a source of distraction not only for drivers, but also for pedestrians.
An 18-year-old man was recently hit by a light rail train in Folsom while walking along the tracks and using his cell phone at the same time.
According to reports, the accident occurred at a light rail station near Iron Point Road and Folsom Boulevard.
The teen told authorities that he was walking on the tracks, which is away from the street, to avoid being hit by passing vehicles. He succeeded in avoiding the vehicles but was hit by a train instead.
The teen was rushed to the hospital under a serious condition after sustaining major injuries to his legs.
