Drivers should be more responsible in making sure that younger drivers won’t take charge of a bulky vehicle because they should know from experience that it is harder to maneuver and control.
A recent rollover accident involves a fatigued unlicensed teen who drove and crashed a big rig carrying some 36,000 pounds of cargo.
According to reports, the 20-year-old man who should be driving the big rig hauling whipped cream and sour cream let the teen drive as he took a nap while travelling along the eastbound lanes of 210 Freeway in Lake View Terrace.
The sleepy teen made an unsafe turn causing him to lose control over the big rig as it flipped and crashed around 4 am near a mobile home park.
Two other occupants of the big rig, aged 3 and 13, were initially thought to be trapped inside the big rig but rescuers found them hiding in nearby bushes.
This accident could have been a lot worse. Luckily, there wasn’t any damage to the mobile homes and some of the big rig’s passenger only had minor injuries.
Hopefully, the teen and the licensed driver of the big rig both learned their lessons in this accident.
